USDA Language Requiring Vet Or Designee Consultations For Painful Procedures

From: USDA Animal Welfare Act Regulations, 9 CFR Part 2 (Regulations), Subpart C (Research Facilities), Section 2.31 (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, IACUC), paragraph (d)(iv)(B):

“(iv) Procedures that may cause more than momentary or slight pain or distress to the animals will: . . . (B) Involve, in their planning, consultation with the attending veterinarian or his or her designee.”
